Steinbeck's is a compact labor of love that serves the community of Oakhurst in Decatur, Georgia. It is a temporal, convivial, compact, original pub. Our food incorporates flavors from around the globe, we serve whatever sounds great to eat with beer. We refuse to adopt a theme because themes are fascist and mostly boring. Our draft program is mainly craft, we pour solid wine and make a damn fine cocktail. Sound good? Please feel free to join us. We'd love to make you acquaintance.
Chef Andy Gonzales helms the kitchen and the beverage program at Steinbeck's. He brings with him an extensive amount of experience in Atlanta's culinary scene to create the distinctive comfort food served at Steinbeck's. At Oakhurst Market, Steinbeck's sister concept, Gonzales is a partner/consultant.
Prior to joining Steinbeck's, Chef Gonzales worked at some of Atlanta's historically best-known restaurants including Bluepointe, Nava, South City Kitchen-Midtown and Spice Market. Given that array of restaurants he was able to hone his skills with international cuisines, which continues to shape the fare at Steinbeck's.
In addition to his culinary skills, Gonzales brings professional-level knowledge of beer and wine, which is on display at Steinbeck's. This knowledge came from first-hand experience, study, home brewing & years of pairing beverages and food in fine dining establishments.
Merging his passion for food and community, Gonzales participates in multiple culinary fundraisers throughout the city and spearheads the annual Smoke & Glory event each spring. This event helps to raise thousands of dollars for various local charities and brings together a large portion of Atlanta's culinary community.
When he's not working in Oakhurst, Gonzales loves to chase his twin boys around, flirt with his wife and play a lovely round of golf.
